The Federations President Mr Mark Joseph Obuya and The Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Mugo addressed various issues, they called for peaceful,incredible general elections and that employers expect the new IEBC Commissioners to quickly settle in and deliver credible elections for Kenyans.To the politicians they were urged to commit to peaceful campaigns and elections and avoid engaging in divisive, political utterances.
Speaking on drought and famine in the country FKE National President Mark Joseph Obuya said that the country has been stricken by dry spells which have resulted in poor harvest and death of livestock and many Kenyans are suffering. The situation poses a challenge to the voter registration exercise especially for the pastoralist communities pre-occupied with survival measures and may not fully participate in the on-going voter registration process.
With the on-going unrest and strikes on labour services in the country the FKE President and CEO we greatly and said that the FKE's stand is parties should respect the Industrial Relations Framework that has previously contributed to maintaining harmony in the Labour Market. FKE believes that strikes are not the best way to address worker's economic challenges and that respect for social dialogue and tolerance should prevail.
