ANALOGUE OUT, DIGITAL IN: KWS COMMUNICATION ADVANCES

12, June 2015

The Analogue to Digital Migration took a different angle today, June 10th 2015, when The Kenya Wildlife Service, in partnership with a French engineering and project management company, Ellipse Projects and with support from the French government bolstered the war against poaching by shifting to Digital its communication.

This arrangement is courtesy of the financial protocol agreement signed between the Kenya and France Governments for the project in November 2011 during the visit by the then Minister of International Cooperation. The project, as was discussed, is set for completion by August 2015.

The event was presided over by the French Minister of Foreign Trade, Promotion and Tourism and French Nationals abroad, Mr. Matthias Fekl, The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, Prof. Judi Wakhungu, other French and Kenyan dignitaries.

The implementation of this technology not only protects our wildlife from poaching, it also boosts the safety and security of the KWS Game Rangers.

Speaking at the launch, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Judi Wakhungu said,” …the project will go a long way in aiding the country to achieve one of our targets under the National Elephant Action Plan as agreed with CITES to advance our technology in wildlife monitoring...’

She lauded the efforts of KWS and appreciated Ellipse Projects, and the French Government for their assistance, both financially and technologically.
