FEDERATION OF KENYAN EMPLOYERS IN PERSPECTIVE.

14, July 2020

Since the the inception of the employer of the year awards three years ago, the forum has grown and the federation uses it to appreciate employers for the good things that they do for their employees and bring its members together and guide them on the internationally accepted standards of doing business.

The federation feels 10 years from now the EYA awards will shift the ground and it will be up to employers to change their modus operandi, the forum could even become regional and the federation expects more participants to.

The federation does hold other forums apart from EYA and they are very important because the federation and members can tap into the vast knowledge of labor matters within its membership, members can also use these forums to articulate issues that affect them.

Looking at emerging issues in the labor market, such as socio-economic, socio-legal and socio-political issues, they are insensitive to prevailing labor guidelines and the federation appreciates that the current workplace is very dynamic and throw in globalization, you end up with a situation very different from what was there 30 years ago. So the federation advocates for alignment of labor regulations and guidelines and laws to sync with the prevailing political dispensation.

Looking into the future, there are huge expectations on how dynamic the market place will become, challenges are becoming more sophisticated and the federation has to advance its way of thinking, its proposals and the relationships it shares with other stakeholders such as the unions, and as of 2019, the federation was celebrating 60 years of existence, so it will still remain a very relevant body in the future.
